The Chin community has been growing in number in Indianapolis since 2000 due to fleeing from the military dictatorship of our mother country, Burma (Myanmar). Having been relocated to a new place and environment, we face many challenges that make us willingly help each other to meet our basic social and human needs. The social condition of the Chin community necessitated the emergence of a community organization to serve its members’ day to day survival. With such a conviction and in order to serve the Chin community, providing means to integrate into the local social structure, the Chin in Indiana established the Chin Community of Indiana (CCI) on July 20, 2001. Our community population has grown to nearly 20,000 people in 2020.
